Reading a Cookbook

So, Let’s start with a story 💋

As you likely can tell, I LOVE Nostalgia and everything Vintage 💄

That’s why I am also The Vintage Redhead….

I’m a redhead…

AND I’m Vintage!!!

I love to look back and remember a simpler time..

To go back in time and relive all of my childhood memories …

To think about all of the people who influenced and shaped my life…

More than I could ever fully realize at the time…

Oh, to go back and appreciate them more…

To tell them how much they meant to me…

To reconnect with those I lost touch with…

To share another belly laugh, walk to the neighborhood candy store, play at the park, go to the beach, hold that hug a little longer …

Realize how special those times were and how they would sustain me throughout my life..

What I would give to explore my childhood home once again, play carefree with my family and friends…

  • To catch fireflies, play games under the glow of the streetlights…
  • When neighbors were truly neighbors, who watched out for each other…
  • When you always had Sunday dinners and company drop by in the afternoon for a visit…
  • To smell and taste my Mom’s cooking one more time….

I loved to watch and help her cook and bake, and developed a love for it myself…

Lord knows, I called her on the phone 📞 enough over the years to have her remind me how She did this or that…lol

How I miss our conversations…

When she downsized, she gave me a box with many of her handwritten recipes, cookbooks and magazines…

I’m even more thankful to have them now 🙏🏻

When she passed away, I only really wanted a few things…

The songbook we always sang from, a few of her mixing bowls 🥣 and spoons, and some baking and serving dishes.

Those were the things that meant the most to me…

Well, the memories attached to them. 🥰

I use them every holiday…

I get up early, put on some Christmas ♫ music, and spend time with my thoughts of my mom….it’s just her and I …reminiscing and baking all of the traditional treats…

I worked hard to make traditions and memories with my kids, so they could continue to share them with their own children….

Of course, I make sure to do it myself when we are together…and even across the miles.

What are some of your childhood traditions…

or new ones you have created, that you have passed on to your children?

I’d LOVE to hear them !!!

Love,
