When I first began homeschooling, I remember how overwhelming it felt!! There were sooo many different types of curricula!!!

I remember thinking....

WHERE DO YOU EVEN BEGIN?!?!?

How do I know which one to pick?  How do I know it will be a good fit? What if we don't like it?

Some of the packages were SOOOO expensive, so it wasn't a decision to be taken lightly.

I decided to join homeschool groups, and ask other moms...

While this is a very helpful tool, it still doesn't mean YOUR child is going to like the same things as their children.

It doesn't mean YOU will like the same things other moms do!

So, the first step is to figure out YOUR CHILD'S learning style...and remember, each child is an individual and may have different learning styles...and THAT IS OK!! 

So, how do you figure out your child's learning style?

This is the first question you must answer. 

Here is a great quiz you can take for each child to help you determine which style best fits them.

Once you determine their learning style, then check into curriculum that fits that style.

Once again, I will caution you NOT to make a hasty purchase!! 

There are usually sample pages on their websites that you can see, print, and try out; join homeschool groups and ask other homeschool moms; find a homeschool store and actually go  and look at the choices; go to a homeschool convention, where you can learn about the different choices...and TAKE YOUR CHILD WITH YOU!!! 

Let them be part of the decision..

After all, THEY are the ones doing it, and they need to love it as much as you do!!!

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEM!!!

ESPECIALLY until you figure out EXACTLY what your child likes and which one is a good fit!!

If your child has previously been in public school..especially with older children

TAKE TIME TO DESCHOOL!!! 

YOU are in charge of your child's education now...NOT the government!!! 

Customize it to YOUR CHILDREN and YOUR FAMILY!!!

OF COURSE, you need to check your state requirements.

Some have more rules than others!!

I am blessed to live in a state where we are considered a private school, and have full control.

OF COURSE, you want to create a plan to be sure they have everything they need to pursue their future plans...

but you can do that in a way that fits THEM!!!

There are SO MANY ways to nurture and prepare them for their future!!

I know many teens...and even younger homeschoolers that end up creating their own businesses and become young entrepreneurs.

Others, do apprenticeships or take college courses at as young as age 11

THE SKY IS THE LIMIT!!!

You will have GREAT days and you will have NOT SO GREAT days...

You will have days when you want to give up and wonder if you did the right thing...

But let me assure you..

YOU DID!!!

You have loved your children and want what is best for them!!

You have made the decision to give your children an education that encompasses your families beliefs and morals..

NOT allow the government to decide and shape their minds otherwise.
