💫💫Forgiveness and Boundaries💫💫
Can they go hand in hand?
ABSOLUTELY!!!
You can forgive someone, love them AND cut off your relationship with them.
Recognizing someone’s toxic fruit and following Biblical instruction about who they truly are vs who they tell you they are, does not mean you hate them.
It means you’re cutting off their ability to harm, influence, or control you any longer…along with those entrusted to you, e.g., children, other vulnerable individuals.
This is called setting BOUNDARIES.
Boundaries are not about the other person… they are about you and those who cannot set them for themselves.
It’s about how much you will allow to continue to happen to you, and to create and maintain a healthy environment.
Cutting off relationships with a highly toxic and unrepentant individual is not a statement about THEIR eternal or present destiny or worth…THAT IS NOT YOUR BATTLE…it’s theirs!!!
Walking away from their toxic influence and ability to control and wound, is a responsible and mature measure of protection for you to take.
Again…
It says nothing about the other person’s salvation or eternal destination…
that is between them and God!!
The Bible has a lot to say about that, and it is up to them personally, to seek God and His infinite wisdom and guidance, and to get those answers for themselves
God will never force Himself on anyone, just as YOU cannot force anyone to Him…
It is each person’s responsibility to seek Him for themselves and be open to change.
Our enabling of their toxicity and destructive behaviors does NO ONE any good and only stops change and healing from occurring.
God is ready and willing to accept, forgive, and redeem anyone who is open to Him.
He also wants us to forgive, but that doesn’t mean condoning or enabling other’s behaviors..
Forgiveness is a GIFT FOR YOU!!!
It’s a gift that says, “You no longer have power over me!” “I release you to God.”
