In doing this, her father also could be sure that the man she was betrothed to, a carpenter named Joseph, also descended from this royal bloodline.

And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”

So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophets, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,”

This conception is not something we can necessarily understand logically. It is something we recognize as a miracle of God’s power and reflective of God’s divine love.
Even believing in this miraculous conception is possible only as both a gift and a miracle of God’s grace and comes from the conviction of the Holy Spirit upon our hearts.
If we believe that Jesus is God come in human flesh, we know that the truth of this story had to begin in a miracle that is both incomprehensible and yet very simple. God took on human flesh as a baby named Jesus. This baby was conceived and carried in the womb of an ordinary young woman.
This miracle of conception reveals the character and compassion of the Most High God to bridge the distance from his heavenly perfection to our human mortality.
While we may not fully understand it, we can receive its truth by grace.
Let us ask the Holy Spirit who brought this miracle to Mary to open our hearts to this miracle and join with all others who share the wonder of God’s love, mercy, and grace, while celebrating His miraculous birth.

Thank You that You take the simple things of life and servants that are humble in spirit to be lifted up and used by You to Your praise and glory.
I pray that I would walk humbly before You all the days of my life and that You would use me in whatever way You choose.
O Father, the One True and Almighty God, I ask that the Holy Spirit that conceived Jesus in Mary deepen my faith and awaken our sense of joy and amazement for the gift of Jesus’ birth.
Heavenly Father, the greatest gift ever given, arrived not with ribbons or wrapped in fancy paper, but in the form of your Son, baby Jesus. Thank you for loving us so much you sent Jesus to save us.
I ask for this grace in Jesus’ name,
AMEN

The Birth of Jesus
The Birth of Jesus as told in the book of Luke, Chapter 2, Verses 1–20.
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
